(Out of ) Ordinary lives in GB road
In New Delhi the red light district is called GB road. Brothels are not only places of work for women, they are also places full of lives and stories. I felt both honoured and in great pain in witnessing for a couple of weeks their lives, while teaching to their children. Their homes are live any ordinary home: mother's love, children watching TV, friends sharing a chai tea, a dance and a laugh, children having to do their homework and keeping pets on their roof. I could not believe behind those dark stairs and gates there could be so much "normality" despite everything these women go through. The faces are blurred to protect their identities and also, because their story could be anyone's story.
