Untold
While shooting at the London and Copenhagen fashion weeks I was most fascinated by the models, by their untold feelings: beautiful, ethereal, unknown. Skinny, delicate, strong young women : what are they really thinking? What do they feel when their body is unwrapped or wrapped with expensive clothes, crazy high heels, covered by foundation, mascara, fake eyelashes… How do they really feel to put on that mask? Are they feeling sad, empty, strong, delicate, lonely? My attention goes to that quick glimpse I could catch while they were having their hair and make up done or while they were waiting for hours for their catwalk to start. I took these shots while they were not aware about me being there as they are always surrounded by so many people . They were like dolls, human dolls. Shortlist – Terry O’Neill Award 2012
